Continued rise in the number of layoffs

For the second month in a row, the number of layoffs increases. This makes it the worst wave of layoffs since the end of the pandemic year 2020. In November, about 5678 people were notified of layoffs, according to figures from the Public Employment Service.

The Swedish Public Employment Service expects the unemployment rate to rise in the recession, from the current 6.6 percent.

Nearly half long-term unemployed
A total of 331,000 people were registered as unemployed with Arbetsförmedlingen in November, and more and more of them are long-term unemployed. 45% of the unemployed are now defined as long-term unemployed, meaning that they have been unemployed for at least 12 months.
